The Issue

There are approximately 3,000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world, and the United States is home to 150 varieties. Species will vary in appearance, location, feeding habits, and in their threat to humans.

In addition to being annoying, nuisances, Mosquitoes also carry several serious diseases that should be carefully considered.

Signs of Mosquitoes

Dengue Fever
Dengue fever is a disease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. It is an acute illness of sudden onset that usually follows a benign course with symptoms such as headache, fever, exhaustion, severe muscle and joint pain, swollen glands and rash. The presence (the “dengue triad”) of fever, rash, and headache (and other pains) is particularly characteristic of dengue fever.

West Nile Virus
Flying and biting insects are a nuisance to every man, woman and child (and their pets) who long to enjoy the outdoors. West Nile Virus occurs through the bite of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes become infected when they feed on infected birds. This serious illness has been reported in 47 states, including Massachusetts.

The Solution

Schedule your mosquito control treatments before your next outdoor event or activity so everyone will remember the enjoyable company and conversations instead of the red, irritating and itchy bites.
